Brockhausc20201 aBIBLISCHE BESINNUNG Martin Reppenhagen: „… und freu dich an Christus“. Predigt über Philipper 4,4. AUFSÄTZE Reiner Braun: Freude an Jesus Christus – die Stärke der Kirche. “... and rejoice in Christ” – that is what Martin Luther wrote to Philipp Melanchthon. How great is this joy in the church today? Is not the lack of joy one of the reasons the church has lost its attractiveness to many of our contemporaries? This article focuses on church-historical, liturgical and homiletic aspects in order that we may learn anew the joy in Christ, as Dietrich Bonhoeffer says. Klaus Haacker: Die Geburt der Theologischen Beiträge aus einer Vertrauenskrise zwischen Theologie und Gemeinde. The journal Theologische Beiträge emerged as a response to questionable developments in academic theology ('demythologizing' and 'existential interpretation') which had fatal effects on the preaching of pastors and disturbed churchgoers. The decision to launch the journal was made by the Pfarrergebetsbruderschaft (pastors united in prayer and mutual support), especially Otto Rodenberg, and the publisher Rolf Brockhaus, supported by young theologians from the German branch of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) and conservative professors of theology, especially Gustav Stählin. Rainer Riesner: Warum der Jesus, der durch den Staub Galiläas gewandert ist, zurecht angebetet wird. Jesus condensed key points of his preaching in memorable doctrinal summaries and pictorial parables. The form of his sayings ensured that the self-interpretation which Jesus gave to his vicarious death as the messianic Son of Man – Servant of God was preserved. God confirmed this claim through the raising of the crucified one. There is a demonstrable continuity from the preaching of Jesus through the faith of the early Jerusalem church to the theology of the apostle Paul. This continuity includes, not least, the acknowledgment of the divinity of Jesus. Mihamm Kim-Rauchholz: Die historische Verankerung der Christologie. Warum der Jesus, der durch den Staub Galiläas gewandert ist, zurecht angebetet wird. Christian faith is founded in the life and death of a historical person, Jesus of Nazareth, and therefore cannot do without the historical inquiry. In the quest for the historical Jesus the lack of the necessary self-critique of one's own philosophical and theological a priori assumptions that categorically excluded the possibility of God's intervention in human history, has led to the fact that the results often reflected one's own worldview rather than doing justice to history as it is as an object of research. Therefore new methodological revisions and steps are needed that do justice to both, the characteristics of the theological discipline and its historical character. Thomas Pola: „Über mich hat jener geschrieben“ (Joh 5,46). Christus im Alten Testament – eine Skizze. This essay concentrates on the exegetical aspect of the issue “Christ in the Old Testament”. On the one hand, the OT is whether Jewish nor Christian in an objective sense, as its Jewish or Christian readings are a question of subjective interpretations. On the other hand, the Christian reading of the OT will start in the NT, its manifold understanding of the OT. In addition to that the reverse direction, from the OT to the NT (given e.g. in Hebr 1:1 2), is necessary in order to work out the original self-understanding of each OT passage (also in the Septuagint) and its function in the different branches of the biblical tradition history (“Traditionsgeschichte”). Moreover, an adequate NT exegesis requires an accurate knowledge of the OT traditions as expressed in quotations, allusions, motives, and formulas in order to understand the NT passages concerned (e.g. John 1:14, 17) due to the fact that they were originally directed to the religiously educated Jewish audience in the Greco-Roman world. Sabine Schmid: Leben und Loben. Zum Gotteslob in den Korachpsalmen in gesamtbiblischem Horizont. Praise to God plays an important role in the Psalms of Korah and contains different aspects that may contribute variously to current forms of worship. These psalms highlight the outstanding role of remembering the story of God and his people Israel. It is because of this story, above all else, that those praying find their way back to worship even while lamenting. Moreover, praise to God expresses life and real life depends on the presence of the Lord who resides in the temple at mount Zion. But life also is connected with being part of the community that gathers in the temple. For a biblical theology of worship these aspects point out that worship is conditioned by the Lord’s remembering man. Heinzpeter Hempelmann: Wie ich als Jünger Jesu die Bibel lese. Transzendentalpragmatische Reflexionen. What happens when we read the bible? And how should we read it? The author presents 16 insights which result from hermeneutical, epistemological, linguistic-philosophical and biblical-theological considerations. The propositions focus on the unity of the processes of believing, living, and knowing. They dispute customary polar distinctions such as “scientific” vs. “spiritual”, “objective” vs. “affected”, “spiritually influenced” vs. “methodically obtained”, “individually significant” vs. “normative for the church”. The interpretation of Scripture is presented as a complex, multidimensional event. We may endeavor to interpret Scripture appropriately, but the success of this process is not in our hands. Clemens Hägele: Freude an der Verkündigung Jesu. The author observes a neglect of the preaching of Jesus (subjective genitive) in today's evangelical practices of piety. He suspects various, diverse reasons in recent and more ancient history of Protestant theology. The author pleads for a renewed reflective inclusion of the preaching of Jesus in exegetical and ecclesiastical teaching. Thomas Schlegel: Freude an der Verkündigung Jesu. Replik auf den gleichlautenden Vortrag von Clemens Hägele. Thomas Schlegel responds to the contribution of Clemens Hägele. He doubts his observation that Jesus’ teaching is less important for evangelical Christians nowadays. However, the focus on the salvation (Jesus’ work on the cross) has a long tradition within the Lutheran tradition. Joy on Jesus comes from studying, telling and teaching the Gospel. Schlegel worries about todays Pastors. Their workload has increased and quite a few are seriously affected by burn out, as a new research discovered in two Churches of Central Germany. Referring to Karl Barth, joy is by its very nature an interruption and a stand-still of life. Preachers need sabbats to discover the joy on Jesus’ preaching anew. Annegret Puttkammer: Die Freude an Jesus als Mitte der Theologischen Existenz. "Fun" means diversion, but "joy" is much more: confidence, foundation, hope. No wonder that this term plays an essential role in the Gospel of Luke. The article also gives suggestions on how the "joy in Christ" can be lived out in everyday pastoral life.
